Searching owners of these 7 aircraft
« on: Friday February 07, 2014, 07:27:34 UTC »
Hi all.

Are the owners of VH-LBW , CF-CYN , N22777 , SE-GRK , F-AZCH ( Ferte Alais ) , N524BG and TF-DHC on this forum, all former RDAF Chipmunks.

Or by some coincidence know something about these aircraft.

Regards,

Hello,
F-AZCH (C1/0702) is airworthy and based in La Ferté-Alais.

CF-CYN is listed in the Transport Canada data base as belonging to John Sim.

The link to the data base is:

VH-LBW is based at Jandakot WA and is owned by Ross Campbell, a retired(?) airline pilot. I'm not too sure how active either of them are, however...

Hi all.

Thank you for all replies, actually digged up all owners now, the funny part is that CF-CYN has had an mod made , which replaced the fabric on the wings with aluminium, never seen that before.

Hi CF6-80,

The metal wing conversion has been done on several of the Canadian ones, and some US ones as well, and there is an STC to do it.  They fly just the same although I felt that the one I flew has very slightly heavier ailerons.

The one metal wing conversion I've seen here (VH-AKW) has wing lockers too!

Hi Rod,

I think the wing locker thing started with the Bristol conversions, or at least they had them.  No real reason why not as there is plenty of room in the inner wing , and it is right on the CofG, although I am sure you have to watch the weight.

Surely better than my way where we stuff the cushions with clothing and get a numb bum after a very short time.  But, being a UK built one I don't have too much fuel to stay in the air for very long!!
