Hi
« on: Tuesday April 24, 2007, 21:19:16 UTC »
This is my first post so please be patient with the newbie!

I found this website after doing some researchon the old chippie which I had the pleasure to spend 8 hours on AEF in the ATC at RAF Turnhouse from '93 to '96. Most of my time was in WP860, is she still around?

I don't have a PPL but am hoping to do it in the next few years and there is a private aerodrome about 5 miles from my house

Anyway, I'm going to to look through the forums a bit more, it looks great so far!

Cheers
iain

Hi Iain,

WP860 still flies in Scotland, and appeared with us at the Leuchars Airshow in 2006.

Her last know location was at Kirknewton near Edinburgh, however I believe she has moved again (Perth?).

Thanks for posting, and we hop you enjoy being part of the Chipmunk community once again!

Cheers!

Dammit, I was at Leuchars last year but didn't notice her, think 861 was there too?

There were 4 Chippies at Leuchars last year:

WD305, WP857 (who both flew the display), WP860 as flying spare and static display - all from Caledonian Chipmunks.

Also present in it's civilian scheme was G-AORW (formerly WB862) from Skylark Aviation.  I don't recall any others being there!

Unlikely to be '861 Jolly Green as I think she's in the States! Would have been quite an adventourous trip though!  :-o

P.S. Welcome to the forum.  :-)
Ahhh Chippies.....
