Chipmunks revisit RAF Turnhouse
« on: Wednesday August 01, 2007, 22:53:09 UTC »
Hi all,

Here are a few pics I took on my mobile phone camera (sorry for the quality) when we were operating out of Edinburgh Airport for the East Fortune Airshow.

We were parked on an apron that was once part of RAF Turhouse, home of 12 AEF when they had the Chipmunk.  Several airport staff came across to us to say it was nice to see the aircraft back at Turnhouse.  It also brought back memories of my first flight in an RAF aircraft, being a Chipmunk from 12 AEF a few years ago!

Magic pics Duncan. Takes me back to the 60s when I spent many happy days with Edinburgh UAS
operating from the hanger which shows in the background of one of your pics. On one sortie our four aircraft Chippie formation was lining up for a run in and break on runway 31 and Turnhouse ATC chased a BEA Vanguard out of the way while we did our steely stuff !

Ahh... those were great days.

Any other former Scottish UAS types out there who flew Chippies and have tales to tell ??
