seat and shoulder harness color
« on: Saturday June 26, 2010, 22:01:57 UTC »
I'm sending my harnesses to hooker harness to have new webbing installed.    Any idea on what the original color might have been?   It looks like mine were blue and brown.    Seems odd to have a mix of colors so I guess I've got a partial replacement.
Thanks

Hi Dave,
The harnesses originally fitted were all blue. The old harnesses in my aircraft were blue. I was told that the RAF changed to black at some point in time, the exact date was not given to me. I was also told that the webbing on the harnesses put into civil aircraft was wider than the webbing in the military version. Two inches in the civil and one and three quarter  inches in the military harness. Mine were rewebbed in one and three quarter inch blue. The brown you found looks like a partial replacement as you suggest.
best regards
Nigel

Thanks guys.   I sent the rear seat belt and shoulder harness to hooker for rewebbing.   They sent them back along with a front seat shoulder harness that they made up from scratch because it was missing from my plane.    Excellent workmanship!!!!!!   They even rebuilt the rotary buckle.    I'm going to install this stuff and send them my front seat belt.   I'll put the rear seat belt up front so I can keep flying.     For color, I went with their royal blue.

Thanks Nigel.    I had the original for the rear seat.   Hooker was able to provide one for the front that is very similar to the original.
