Forum popularity

Hi Guys

This forum should be the best place in the world to exchange ideas, help and information.  I have just come back from Oshkosh and met so many Chipmunk owners and pilots who are screaming out for this.

I can direct them to it, but with so little traffic, its attraction is not reaching potential.  People do not want to have to check every day to see if something new turns up.

My suggestion, and this will only work while thread traffic is low, that there is a way of being informed of whenever a new post arrives on the forum.  If possible members will be able to select 'All' or selective forums.

I would love to receive this notifications and I think it will inspire people to create new threads.

See you in Portrush.

I just realised that it is possible to get notification, buy selecting 'Notify' at the top of each individual forum.

Admittedly, it took a while to select each forum and then the 'Notify' button, but I guess this will fix the issue.

It might be worth sending out a general message to all to heighten awareness of this facility.

Hi Janie,

A good point well raised.

The easiest way to enable this feature is to login, hover your mouse curser over PROFILE from the top menu and then Summary> Modify Profile> Notifications.  This will then allow you to set the global options for being notified of any posts etc.

It is not possible for an admin to do this by default as not everyone would like this feature, especially (as you point out) if the traffic increases.

You can also do it for individual threads each time you post or reply using the tick boxes under the message window (Notify me of replies), thereby making it more selective.

Thanks for advertising us in the US, and if you have any other ideas on how to promulgate the site in a better way then don't hesitate to get in contact!!

Regards,
Duncan

Can someone have a look at the web site, i've been trying over several weeks to add a new post to the 'sales and wants' section but it just comes up with an error message when i try to submit the message.

I dont know if anyone else is having similar problems, but if we can't post items, then it would stand that the website isn't going to appear too popular!

Hi Harvey,
I've just tried a test post on For Sale and it worked OK. ( I use Firefox on either Linux or Win 7 )
Have you checked you firewall/security?

What are you after/selling?
