Picked Up A Great Painting
« on: Monday October 31, 2005, 20:14:50 UTC »
Evening all, I picked this original oil painting up on ebay the other day for £30!! A bargin I reckon. The aircraft repersented is VH-SSJ (WK507) I think this aircraft is still flying in Australia registered to a Hong Kong based owner and I believe it attended the 2004 Groongal Fly-in. Perhaps Rod know's more?

Ahhh Chippies.....

Do I recognize VH-SSJ? She shares my hangar with to my own Pride and Joy and is owned by a very good friend (we ended up marrying sisters - another story) who still flies with Cathay in Hong Kong.

SSJ is currently a non-flyer, though there are moves afoot to get her flying again in March. She's just had an engine overhaul, returned but not yet re-installed.

The painting shows some artisic licence - the aircraft is, as shown, coded "T" with Birmingham UAS markings but does not carry the civil registration on the wing uppersurface.

Cheers,

Rod.

How about this....

Our own dear SL frolicking over the Lleyn Penninsular in North Wales. I have a (limited edition) print on my wall - looking at it as I type this.
